• Research on Emerging Topic Recognition and Feature Association Based on Topic Model and Time Series Analysis

    Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] Carrying out research on emerging research topics(ERT) identification and scientifically and effectively discovering their characteristic correlation laws can better serve practical needs and give play to the innovative supporting role of sci-tech information research on the development of disciplines. Aiming at discovering emerging research topic(ERT) and its characteristic correlation effect scientifically and effectively, this paper carries out ERT identification and feature analysis, while realizing the innovative supporting role of sci-tech information work. [Method/Process] Starting from the definition of the features of ERT, this paper established the methodological framework of ERT identification by using natural language processing, global principal component analysis and time series analysis. Based on the relevant theories and practices of emerging topic identification and scientific impact assessment, this thesis quantified the characteristics of the topic’s consistency, novelty, influence, and growth. On the basis of emerging themes identification, the law of the development of emerging themes in the target field is deeply excavated. Granger causality test and cointegration analysis were used to explore the long term equilibrium and the correlation effects of their characteristics. [Result/Conclusion] This paper proposes a method to identify ERT and their correlation feature analysis. In order to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of this method, the field of wetland was selected to carry out empirical research. Combined with the topic identification and feature correlation effect analysis, the final result depicted the dynamic development path of subject science influence in this field, while putting forward some advices on developing emerging topics from the perspective of associated characteristics.

  • Application of Topic Models in the Analysis of Public Policy: A Review of the Research Status in Domestic and Foreign

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper comprehensively summarizes the application of topic models in public policy texts, which helps researchers learn from existing research results and provides theoretical and practical support for future development. [Method/process] This paper used bibliometric analysis to study from the perspectives of time trend, organization distribution, periodical distribution, etc., and summarized the application status in detail. Secondly, the LDA topic model was used to identify the main international and domestic research directions and conducted a comparative analysis. Finally, this paper summarized the problems in the application and proposed future prospects. [Result/conclusion] The application of topic models in the analysis of public policy texts is on the rise overall and has broad prospects. The starting time of domestic and foreign research is equivalent, but domestic research needs to be improved in terms of research scope, research depth, cooperation methods, and research methods. In addition, in the future development, there are problems with the applicability of the topic model’s own methods and the granularity of research content. It is necessary to further combine the characteristics of public policy texts to improve the topic model and refine research efforts.

  • Investigation and Comparative Analysis of Institutional Repository in Chinese Scientific Research Institutions and Universities

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] At the important node of IR development entering a stable period and in the transition to the next generation of IR, this paper reviews the construction process, status quo and challenges of institutional repository in China, so as to achieve the purpose of accelerating and deepening the development of IR in China. [Method/process] First, it adopts the empirical research method combining the network survey method and telephone and email survey methods, and takes domestic universities, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other scientific research institutes as the survey object to investigate the development status of the national IR; second, the survey results According to the comparative analysis of the university system, scientific research system and the overall situation, summarize the IR development achievements and problems. [Result/conclusion] Some achievements have been made in IR construction. The number of IR under construction and to be built is increasing, and the resource scale is increasing greatly. However, there are some problems in the development of IR, such as imperfect management policies, excessive access restrictions, unclear intellectual property rights, insufficient openness and low self storage rate.

  • Existing Problems and Countermeasures of Domestic Social Media for Altmetrics Evaluation of Academic Achievements

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The paper aims to analyze the problems and countermeasures of domestic social media for Altmetrics evaluation of academic achievements, so as to promote the Altmetrics evaluation of domestic academic results.[Method/process] Literature review was adopted to sort out the current research status of domestic and foreign social media for Altmetrics evaluation of academic achievements.[Result/conclusion] Domestic social media for Altmetrics evaluation of academic results has six shortcomings:lack of data foundation, lack of exploration of data sources and indicators, lack of empirical study of correlation between indicators and the influencing factors of indicators, lack of research on the deep meaning of Altmetrics indicators, lack of development of Altmetrics analysis tools, and lack of theoretical support.

  • A Review of the Impact of International Collaboration on Research Performance

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Research collaboration is a collaborative research work between different scientific research subjects on specific scientific issues to achieve complementary advantages. International research collaboration is of great significance to promote research performance. Understanding the current research status of the impact of international collaboration on research performance will provide a reference for the future research.[Method/process] This paper analyzes the literature about the impact of international collaboration on research performance from research sample, analysis indicators and analysis method based on the definition of international collaboration and research performance.[Result/conclusion] The analysis results show that the research field is rich in results at present. Domestic and international scholars are mainly from the macro (country or regional, etc.), meso (fields or institutions, teams, etc.) and micro (individuals) -3 levels, using bibliometric, social network analysis and statistical analysis to study on the impact of international collaboration on research performance,with the help of rich international collaboration indicators (simple count indicators and single ratio indictors) and research performance indicators (quantity indicators, quality indictors and indictors like h-index). The research needs to be strengthened including studying at the level of scientists and broadening the analysis based on more research collaboration behaviors; exploring comprehensive indicators of research collaboration and research performance; creating targeted analysis models and controlling some important variables.

  • The Research about the Improved Disruption Index and Its Influencing Factors

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] To solve the inconsistency of disruption index D, and investigate the affecting factors of disruption index in specific applications.[Method/process] This paper pointed out the inconsistency problem of disruption index D, and then proposed Rela_DZ and DZ as alternatives to solve the inconsistency problem of D. Finally, the factors affecting Rela_DZ and DZ were studied from the perspective of citation time window, discipline difference and document types.[Result/conclusion] Rela_DZ avoids the inconsistency problem by solving the non-monotonic problem of D with respect to NR. DZ overcomes the non-strict monotonic problem of D with respect to NF and NB. Taking into account the relative and absolute disruption index will result in more reasonable results. In addition, Rela_DZ and DZ are influenced by citation time window, disciplines and document types. Necessary processing steps are needed when applying the disruption index.

  • A Statistical Analysis of Literature on Term Extraction Based on Machine Learning

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The purpose of this paper is to sort out and summarize the relevant content of the automatic term extraction research based on machine learning, and to provide a reference for related personnel in the field. [Method/process] Firstly, this paper applied literature measurement to conduct a macro analysis of the subject's annual trends and core institutions based on the analysis tools of CNKI and EndNote, then it carried out the subject analysis from 3 aspects:extraction of technical methods, data sets and evaluation, and application. [Result/conclusion] In recent years, term extraction research has made great progress, and is the basic work in the fields of knowledge systems, natural language processing, and information analysis. With the rapid development of natural language processing, extraction technology has begun to develop in the direction of deep learning, but the basic theoretical system of term extraction still needs to be improved, such as evaluation indicators, corpus selection and effect evaluation methods.

  • Empirical Study of a Semantic and Proximity-based Author Co-citation Analysis Method

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The author co-citation analysis is an vital method to explore the domain knowledge structure. In the context of complex development of disciplines, the author’s relevance measure based on the co-citation frequency is quite controversial. The study proposed an improved method for author co-citation analysis based on the similarity of content semantics and the proximity of locations. [Method/process] Based on the introduction of its basic principles, the field of LIS was used as an example to demonstrate the effect of the method, a full-text mining of citations for CNKI Chinese journals was conducted, and the citing sentences and reference positions were then extracted. Combined with pre-trained domain word embedding models, the deep correlation between the co-cited literature and the strength of the connection between the authors were measured. A network analysis and a factor analysis were then used to compare the differences on effects between the method and the traditional method. [Result/conclusion] The results show that the method can more accurately identify the correlation strength between authors, and find more detailed subject knowledge structure, and has a certain scalability and applicability.

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The paper systematically analyzes the identification methods of emerging technologies at home and abroad, then summarizes research status and analyzes existing problems to provide reference for future research on identification methods of emerging technologies.[Method/process] On the basis of literature research and bibliometric analysis, this paper summarized the current mainstream identification methods of emerging technologies and analyzed its characteristics and its impact on the research of identification methods of emerging technologies combined with typical cases, then proposed suggestions for future research on identification methods of emerging technologies.[Result/conclusion] The current identification methods of emerging technologies conclude quantitative methods and qualitative methods. The common identification methods of emerging technologies are mainly based on measurement models, bibliometrics and text mining methods, and they are increasingly inclined to be multi-method fusion. However, there are still some deficiencies in the research. Future research on identification methods of emerging technologies should strengthen the exploration of the essential characteristics of emerging technologies, and strengthen the interpretation of specific identification methods to emerging technologies, and promote the timeliness of identification of emerging technologies from data sources and identification methods as well as Strengthen the exploration of effective fusion methods and application methods of multi-source data in the identification of emerging technologies.

  • Research on the Connotation Characteristics and Cognitive Model of Smart Library

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The concept definition and connotation deconstruction is the basis of theoretical research and practical exploration of smart library.[Method/process] By the method of content analysis, this paper firstly selected representative concepts in the field of smart library at home and abroad, extracted the frequency of "words" appearing in concepts, and obtained words that can represent the key characteristics of smart libraries, Then, it analyzed the common characteristics of smart construction concepts, such as smart cities, smart campuses, and smart museums. Finally, combined with the above analysis results, the connotation characteristics and cognitive model of the smart library were abstracted and defined.[Result/conclusion] Based on the essence of smart library, the concept of smart library was scientifically defined, and the PTP cognitive model of smart library system architecture was put forward, which clarifies the goal and path of smart library construction, and lays a theoretical foundation for the further research and development of smart library.
