  • Review on Library Crowdsourcing in China

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper systematically reviews the research results on library crowdsourcing in China, and summarizes the current research situation insufficient. Meanwhile, by putting forward the further research direction, it provides certain reference for relevant research in the future. [Method/ process] Selecting the library crowdsourcing research papers in China as the object, it summarized current research topic through the detailed analysis of these objects’ specific content. [Result/conclusion] This paper reveals that: domestic research in this field is mainly focused on library service works crowdsourcing, information resource construction crowdsourcing, librarian crowdsourcing, practical experience introduction of crowdsourcing in foreign libraries and calm reflection on library crowdsourcing and etc. However, most of these studies are staying in the theoretical stage, and lacking of research on empirical and evaluation of implementation effect as well as comparative research and introduction of failed cases. It is necessary to combine with the above shortcomings to conduct deep discussion and research later on, so as to broaden the research perspective and enrich the research contents.

  • Analysis of Springer Nature SciGraphLinked Open Data

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The analysis of thelinked open data provided by the Springer Nature SciGraph platform provides a reference for the domestic publishers to use the linked data to promote the practice of linked open research in the scholarly communication and the semantic publishing, and push forward the further development of the open scientific research movement. [Method/process] This paper analyzed the entity objects, vocabularies and data models of the Springer Nature SciGraph platformin detail. [Result/conclusion] Springer Nature SciGraph represents the data by building its own ontology and using a simpler serialized format N-Triples triple for RDF.As one of the world’s largest publishers, Springer Nature Linked Data will provide some references for other publishers to realize the linked research in the future.

  • Review on the Weighting Methods of Indexes in the Multi-Factor Evaluation

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper systematically combs the common weighting methods of indexes to provide a reference for the relevant staff in determining the reasonable weighting methods for specific evaluation problems. [Method/process] The paper analyzed the fundamental principles, the concrete application cases, the advantages and disadvantages, the application scopes of the common weighting methods. [Result/conclusion] The application scopes of different weighting methods differ from each other. In the evaluation of practical problems, the weighting methods should be selected according to the characteristics of the evaluation object to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of the comprehensive evaluation.

  • Analysis of the Digital Humanities Project Cooperation Platform ——Taking DHCOMMONS as an Example

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The analysis about digital humanities project cooperation platform helps to understand the basis and current status of digital humanities. [Method/process] This paper took the digital humanities project online cooperation platform DHCOMMONS as an example, analyzed the platform in terms of the funding agencies, disciplines, affiliated institutions, cooperation types and types of cooperators to understand the status of the digital humanities cooperation. It also put forward the issues that China should think of in the process of developing similar platforms. [Result/conclusion] Given the situation reflected in the platform, these digital humanities projects belong to a number of institutions and are funded by different organizations. Professionals from various industries participated in the operation of digital humanities projects. Libraries and librarians play important roles in the development of digital humanities projects.

  • Visualization Analysis on the Research Development of Altmetrics in China

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] With the deepening of Altmetrics’ research, the analysis of its development trend will help researchers to study the research progress and hot contents, and provide some references for the future research. [Method/process] This paper chose CNKI database as the data source, and usedthe bibliometric method and the visualization method to analyze the domestic Altmetrics research from three aspects: research overview, literature coherence and research content. [Result/conclusion] ① Domestic Altmetrics research is shifting from theoretical research to empirical research, with a good momentum of development; ② scientific research cooperation is one of the important features of Altmetrics research. The distribution of disciplines is centered on library science and information science, with publishing, medicine and scientific research management as the edges of this structure. ③ The development of the Altmetrics tools and resource platforms embedded in the mechanism in the domestic environment, the reconstruction of the scientific communication process from the perspective of Altmetrics, the integration of traditional evaluation and communication-process-based evaluation will be Altmetrics’ future research trends.

  • The Mapping Analysis Between the Cooperative Patent Classification System (CPC) and the International Patent Classification System (IPC)

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] A detailed comparison of the mapping between the Cooperative Patent Classification System (CPC) and the International Patent Classification System (IPC) is intended to provide references for the use of CPC and IPC for patent classification. [Method/process] This paper made a detailed mapping number analysis between CPC and IPC in terms of the class, subclass, group and subgroup on their common A-H sections. [Result/conclusion] The classification principle between the Cooperative Patent Classification System (CPC) and the International Patent Classification System (IPC) is basically consistent and CPC is more subdivided than the IPC. The “2000 series (indexing)” and the Y section of the new technology are added, showing CPC’s high extensibility. We believe that as a strong compatibility and high degree classification system, CPC will become an efficient tool to improve the efficiency of retrieval and optimize the review quality.

  • An Analysis of Modern Japanese Think Tank Prototype ——SMR Investigation Organization and Its Operation Mechanism

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Through an analysis of SMR investigatory apparatus business and its operation mechanism, this paper discusses the development model of the investigation organ, the South Manchuria Railway think tank, and reveals the militarism influence on the early Japanese think tank development. [Method/process] This paper combed the SMR’s important survey agencies development pattern by the case study and literature survey and also discussed the key mechanism of operation system and organization characteristics. The evaluation of reports directed by the SMR provided references. [Result/ conclusion] The SMR, as a colonial and aggressive policy tool, its surveys were done for the government and military authorities. With independent sources of information, the use of network intelligence structure and the combination of resident literature collection with field investigation, the collection of professional analysis personnel, the SMR investigation organization completes the decision-making through the scientific method and has reference value.

[Method/process] On the base of the summary of its concept and the clarification of its significance of technology convergence study, the paper pointed out its research stages, and made comparative analysis of the methods in data collection, technosphere identification and convergence analysis. [Result/conclusion] Finally, it concludes the shortages of existing studies and the further research directions, which can deepen the study on technology convergence.

  • An Analysison Provincial Medical Science Basic Research Competitiveness Based on the National Natural Science Foundation of China

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) is one of the most important channels to support basic research in China. Competition for funding by the NSFC has been a very important indicator to measure the basic research level of various province and scientific research institutions. [Method/process] By combing and analyzing the status quo of NSFC in medical science, it is helpful to narrow the provincial gap and improve the basic research of medical science in China. Based on the project information of NSFC and previous scholars’ research, the paper update the index of basic research competitiveness, and analyzes project number and project funding of medical science during 2006-2016. At the same time, the competitiveness of medical science basic research and its changing trend in 31 provinces of China are analyzed. [Result/conclusion] The result shows that, in recent years, China’s basic scientific research has greatly improved, but there is a large gap between the provinces.

  • Research on Mapping the Knowledge Domain of Digital Curation ——A Bibliometric Study of Web of Science (1990-2016)

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Digital Curation (DC) is an important part of research data management in e-Science environment. By systematically combing the research progress and proposing some issues worthy of further studying, this paper aims to provide a basis and reference for national research data management research. [Method/process] Documents relevant to data curation were retrieved from Web of Science database. With CiteSpace Ⅲ software based on the document co-citation analysis method, this paper drew the knowledge map of international digital curation. In terms of research-based subject distribution, research institutions, researchers and knowledge of the four dimensions, the related contents were analyzed and summarized with the content analysis method. [Result/conclusion] International digital curation research began in 2000. Now it has entered a mature period, with a specific research disciplines, institutions and groups. The research’s knowledge base is data description, integration and association, data maintenance in the scientific research process and value-added activities, data management stakeholders and service innovation models of library services.

  • Analysis of Emergency Information Management Research Hotspots Based on Bibliometric and Co-occurrence Analysis

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Emergency information management is an interdisciplinary field of emergency management and information management. Summarizing the major research output is helpful to strengthen the effective utilization of information resources in emergency management research, and to provide references for the follow-up development and practical exploration of emergency information management research. [Method/process] By retrieving concerned literature from CNKI, this paper used the bibliometric and co-word clustering analysis methods to analyze the domestic emergency management research output. [Result/conclusion] Domestic emergency information management research mainly focuses on five hot topics: disaster emergency information management, crisis information disclosure, emergency information management system, emergency response, wisdom emergency management. China should strengthen the emergency management information base for future theoretical research, and build the emergency information management theoretical framework.

  • Analysis on the Academic Appearance of Researchers’ Career Based on the Life Cycle Approach

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] By analyzing the research status of the academic life cycle, this paper analyzes problems and omissions in the current research, and puts forward the improvement direction and research points. [Method/process] After analyzing the feature and influence factors of the academic life cycle, this paper referred to the characteristics of the current research. [Result/conclusion] There are existing problems. First, the current research takes the qualitative analysis, lacking enough quantitative analysis. Second, it only takes the long term and single factor into consideration. Third, the current research ignores the difference among subjects. Last, there are bias and limitations during the sample selecting. This paper offers advice for the country, institutes and researchers by getting the law of researchers’ career, which comes from the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods with data analyses with the consideration of the difference of disciplines and the scientific research group.

This paper analyzed the information required in the research process, researched the features of the knowledge organization system of the advanced knowledge environment for research groups. [Result/conclusion] This paper presents some recommendations on knowledge organization for knowledge environments.

  • Identification of R&D Teams Based on the Disambiguation of Patent Inventors’ Names

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Talent is the main factor in technology research. R&D teamsare the focus of technology development in various fieldsandimportant manifestation of the competence of an institution. [Method/process] Based on Derwent Innovation Index (DII) patent documents, the rules for the disambiguation of patent inventors’ names weredefined, and the key R&D teams were identified by inventors clustering. Then, an empirical study was carried out on patents related to Digital Light Process (DLP) of 3D printing. [Result/conclusion] It is shown that the disambiguation of patent inventors’ names is helpful to accurately analyze the number of inventors’ patents.

  • A Contrastive Analysis of Linked Data Research Hotspots at Home and Abroad

    Abstract: The same to Chinese abstract. [Purpose/significance] The domestic research on linked data is still in its initial stage. With theoretical research and application research being immature, this study could provide some inspiration and references fordomestic research on linked data. [Method/process] By reviewing lots of literature and the systemic analysis, this study has analyzed the differences between domestic and international researches in terms ofthe quantity of published papers, research groups, word frequency and subject identification. [Result/conclusion] Based on the analysis above, this article proposes four tips to promote the development of domestic research on linked data, including indigenous research, paying more attention to application research, optimized the structure of research groups and focusing on multidisciplinary applications.

  • An Overview on the Computing Method of the Lexical Chain Text Representation Model

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Text representation is an important step in intelligence processing. An excellent text representation model can reflect the document content precisely and sufficiently. Besides, it can improve the processing effect. It can be broadly applied in the fields of automatic abstracting and text segmentation. [Method/process] In this article, we collected the related documents and analyzed them. The construction methods and disambiguation in the lexical chain computing were classified and concluded. The computing method of the lexical chain relation included the computing method based on semantic association, the computing method based on statistical information and the computing method based on charts. The semantic disambiguation was important in the construction of the lexical chain, which directly affected the results and efficiency of the lexical chain construction. [Result/conclusion] The lexical chain text representation can be easily constructed and broadly applied. There are still some problems in the text representation model of the lexical chain. For example, there are many limitations to construct it by dictionaries, which does not take the context into consideration. The lexical chain model will possibly develop towards the fusion semantic relation method, the statistical algorithm and the context analysis of distributed semantics in the future.

  • Review on Full Counting Method and Fractional Counting Method in Scientometric Research

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper systematically defines the related concepts of counting methods and establishes the counting methods classification. Then, it concludes the characteristics and differences of counting methods, analyzes the existing problems and proposes some suggestions for the future improvement and selection of counting methods.[Method/process] Firstly, the paper generalized the elements and the process of counting methods, proposed two classified factors of counting methods from the perspective of credit allocation, including full counts and fractional counts, and then, we summarized the two methods. Secondly, the paper took full counts and factional counts as an example to compare the differences between two types of methods from three perspectives included publication indicators, citation indicators and network indicators.[Result/conclusion] Finally, we develop a brief description of existing problems, which include the advantages and disadvantages of full counts and fractional counts, the consistency between the basic unit and count object, the rationality of credit allocation and measurement of network impact. Besides, we point out the further research space of the above problems.

  • Research Progress and Future Tendency of Information Science in China in Recent 20 Years: Taking Advances in Information Science as an Example

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper aims at reviewing and summarizing the historical course of information science, it is of great significance to understand the development process of information science in China in the past 20 years, and can provide reference and guidance for further research.[Method/process] This article took the papers published in Advances in Information Science(Volume 1-11) as research object, and summarized the topics of these papers and the characteristics of each topic by the method of contents analysis. Then, based on the above analysis, it forecasted three development trends of information science in China in the future, including theoretical research, paradigm method and application practice.[Result/conclusion] It is showed that the main topics of those papers in Advances in Information Science are basic theories of information science, information resources management, emerging information technology and so on, each topic presents different characteristics. In the future, intelligent information science will integrate more disciplines knowledge of other subjects, serve the scientific discovery research, national economic construction and national defence security, and provide intellectual support for the construction of new national think tanks.

  • Research Progress of Evidence-based Science in Library and Information Science (LIS)

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The paper aims to learn about the progress of the studies on evidence-based science in library and information science (LIS) discipline from the literature content, with a focus on the major research themes and research directions in recent years, and the domestic and international research progress is compared.[Method/process] From the core collection of Web of Science and Chinese core journals from CNKI and Wanfang database, a search for the evidence-based science research in the field of LIS is performed. Utilizing content analysis method, the paper makes statistical analysis on the target literature from the year of publication and the subject area; then the paper puts its focus on the research theme analysis and hot topics in the past five years from two perspectives of interdisciplinary research, and the subject function of LIS and the objects.[Result/conclusion] Researches on evidence-based science in the field of LIS involve a number of subject areas including medicine, nursing and health care, policy science, information systems and education. The main research themes on evidence-based science in LIS are summarized into 10 categories in the end, of which "Services of LIS Institutions and Librarians' Professional Development" and "Evidence Sources and Its Access Methods or Technologies" are viewed as the core topics. China is relatively weak whether in terms of the breadth of subject areas and themes covered or the depth of research on each theme.

  • Empirical Research on the Funding Effect of Science and Technology Policy Based on DID Model: Take the 20 Years of Implementation of Distinguished Young Scientists' Fund in Earth Science Projects as an Example

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Science and technology innovation is an important strategic support for modern economic system. After the reform and opening up, in order to promote China's economic development, China government introduced and implemented a series of science and technology policy aims to promote the development of science and technology. However, how is the founding effect of these science and technology and policies, how the changes in founding effects in the historical cycle of science and technology policy have caused wide spread concern.[Method/process] This paper conducted an empirical research of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars Earth Science Project that has been in operation for 20 years(JieQing fund) as an example. In order to overcome the endogeneity problem caused by sample selection bias,the study used DID model to assess the effect of fund for distinguished young on the research papers output efficiency of scientists, and put forward the "environment-motivation-behavior" model to explain the research result.[Result/conclusion] The empirical results show that between 1994 to 2008, the significant funding effect of JieQing fund reached 12 years, with a significant proportion 80%. Scientists who have received JieQing fund(JieQing Scientists) were able to published more 0.412 to 3.234 papers per year than those who have not received JieQing fund. After data conversion,compared with other scientists who in the same period(Same period Scientists) of JieQing Scientists, JieQing scientists can published more 0.426-3.277 papers per year. The largest funded effect of JieQing fund was in 2002, but the funding effect was not significant in 2007 and 2008. When evaluating the effect of science and technology policy support, the control group can be constructed by this method in this paper to achieve the research purpose of causal effect inference.
