Analysis and Enlightenment of Special Collection Teaching Support Service in Ten American University Libraries

Abstract： Special collection teaching support services are of great significance for the development and utilization of library special collections and assisting universities in cultivating talents. Using online survey methods, this article explores the contents of special collection teaching support services in ten American university libraries, summarizes its service highlights, including their guidance with clear teaching ideas, establishes projects to carry out practical learning, provides teaching guides to promote services, and reflects the trend of digital learning development. Based on this, several inspirations are proposed for the special collection teaching support services for domestic university libraries: to carry out the construction and service of special collections for teaching application; to design special collection teaching activities around the Primary Source Literacy education; to carry out case demonstration and exchange training based on the improvement of teachers' ability; to implement active learning teaching strategy to create research and practice opportunities; to expand the content of special collection teaching support service in combination with Digital Humanities.Special collection teaching support services are of great significance for the development and utilization of library special collections and assisting universities in cultivating talents.
