• Research on Personalized Services of Digital Humanities Platforms: Taking Shanghai Library as an Example

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] In order to optimize the functions of Chinese digital humanities platforms, this article explores the path to realize the accurate push of digital humanities information based on users' personal research interests and need directions.[Method/process] Taking the digital humanities platform of Shanghai Library as an example, this article tried to use three service ways of knowledge graphs, user portraits and hotspot push in the field of humanities to enhance the quality of modern library services, and provide users with more efficient and high quality services.[Result/conclusion] The research shows that digital humanities services combined with efficient artificial intelligence recommendation algorithm can provide users with a variety of accurate and high-quality referral services, and accurately push high-value information to users.

  • The Application Strategy of AR Technology on Digital Humanities App: Taking Start from Ferguson Road App as an Example

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Aiming at the great application prospects of current AR technology in China, this paper discusses application and practice of the different categories of AR functions in Digital Humanities, and hopes to bring impetus and innovation to cultural tourism industry.[Method/process] This article reviewed the Digital Humanities AR applications home and abroad, sorted out AR function category of Digital Humanities application in Europe, and took Start from Ferguson Road App as an AR navigation example to put forward the strategy of functional development.[Result/conclusion] Among European Digital Humanities applications, AR technology is widely used in the virtual reproduction of historical sites, the guidance of cultural tourism map, knowledge interactive entertainment and historical humanity education. The technology brings users more accurate and diverse cultural tourism information. This article provides a series of AR function development strategies based on the Start from Ferguson Road APP to provide references for App development in the field of domestic cultural tourism.

  • Functional Prospect of Smart Cultural Tourism Application Products in “Digital Humanities +”

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Based on the national background of promoting the combination of culture and tourism and seeking common development, this paper outlooks and discusses the application of digital humanities related technologies and research results in the construction of characteristic functions of smart cultural tourism application products in the libraries.[Method/process] This paper selected eight smart cultural tourism application products which focusing on humanistic content (including mobile app, mini programs and websites) as examples, and emphatically analyzed five characteristic functions. Then it analyzed the current market of smart cultural tourism application products and the advantages and disadvantages of the library's construction of smart cultural tourism application products in "Digital Humanities +". According to the research and analysis results, this paper put forward three characteristic functions that could use digital humanities related technologies and research results.[Result/conclusion] Through the case study of eight research objects, this paper finds that there are five kinds of characteristic functions that call and develop digital cultural resources, such as characteristic route planning and recommendation, characteristic theme classification dimension, historical and modern image comparison. The construction of these functions mainly focus on displaying the historical features of the scenic spots more truly in front of users and increasing the interaction and participation of users, but the excavation of historical and cultural content is still relatively lacking. This paper suggests that the library can give full play to professional advantages, apply the relevant technologies and research results of digital humanities to the smart cultural tourism application pruducts, and expand the social benefits of digital humanities research results. It can also help to build characteristic functions and provide intelligent cultural travel services to reveal humanistic content as the core.

  • Research on Geo-Reference Platform of Historical Maps in Overseas Libraries and Localization Possibilities

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Historical maps play an important role in the study of humanities and history. However, due to the expression of images and the uncertainty of text annotation, it brings some obstacles and difficulties to researchers and collection units responsible for indexing and induction in practical reference.[Method/process] This paper studied three mature cases of geo-reference platform of overseas libraries from different angles, analyzed the commonness and characteristics of its operation mode, technology application, and compare the existing domestic projects, finally will reach the enlightenment and suggestions for the localization development of geo-reference projects.[Result/conclusion] Taking the collection of historical maps in Shanghai Library as the object, this paper explores the local geo-reference platform model, and through the construction of geo-reference platform, library will be able to digitize historical documents while largely improve the experience and efficiency of its document use.

  • Features and Suggestions for the Development of Digital Humanities Projects: Based On the Discussion and Analysis of the International Digital Humanities Award Winning Projects

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] In the field of international digital humanities, Digital Humanities Award is one of the most authoritative awards. Through combing and analyzing the award-winning projects, the commonalities between "excellent projects" and "practical tools" in the field of digital humanities can be found, and the shortcomings of failed projects can be summarized.[Method/process] This paper used literature research method, content analysis method and information measurement method to sort out the award-winning projects of Digital Humanities Award over the years, and summarized the characteristics and deficiencies of the award-winning projects.[Result/conclusion] After investigation and analysis, this article proposes that the digital humanities tool development should be oriented towards code open source and user needs; project practice should be based on linked data, international image interoperability framework (IIIF), resource description framework (RDF) and artificial intelligence technology (AI) as the main technical framework; these projects with limited funds or resources can choose "minimum computing" as the practice mode.

  • Analysis and Enlightenment of Digital Humanities Project in Chinese Context——The Overview of the Project Selection of DH2020

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper analyzes 51 digital humanities projects in Chinese context which is collected at the 2020 digital humanities conference held by Shanghai Library. This paper summarizes the general situation of digital humanities projects on Chinese cultural themes in the Chinese context, and provides reference for the future development of digital humanities in China.[Method/process] The 51 projects were analyzed by network survey and data analysis, and classified according to the different research objects and contents. Meanwhile, valuable features were obtained by analyzing and discussing the research methods, implementation conditions and practical significance of the project results. This paper discussed four dimensions of "Digital Humanities and humanities" "Application of technical means and methods" "infrastructure construction" and "extended service and problem solving".[Result/conclusion] The overview of 51 projects show five characteristics:Digital Humanities is flourished in the fields of history and literature, and has deep combination of machine learning. The construction of digital resources is still the top priority. The era of Comprehensive Digital Humanities platform has come, and interdisciplinary, inter institutional and international cooperative projects have also begun to appear. In view of the shortcomings in the construction and development of Chinese Digital Humanities projects, this paper also puts forward the main suggestions to promote inter agency cooperation and interdisciplinary integration, to strengthen the cultivation of big data cross thinking and humanistic quality, and continue to improve the subject service ability and basic resources construction.
