• Analysis on Big Data Problems and Technique Supports of Archives Informatization

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The realistic questions of the archives informatization management are faced with data size rapidly increasing, and their types and structures more diverse and complex. [Method/ process] Based on the essential attribute of archives in this paper, the big data characteristics of digital archives in their storage and utilization links were analyzed, and the support of new big data techniques in the course of archives informatization, and their applications to the storage and utilization of digital archives and knowledge discovery were researched. [Result/conclusion] Modern processing technology for big data would not only bring certain supports for the management of archives informatization, but also promote the development of its theory and practice.

  • Research on Digital Resources Usage Statistics of Library Consortiums: A Case of JUSP

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Usage statistics of digital resources provide library consortiums basic data, which can support the evaluation of digital resource, and it is also an important evidence for budget allocation in library consortium acquisition. And then, with the horizontal contrast usage data, consortium members can optimize their acquisition decisions. Besides, this paper takes JUSP as an example, by analyzing the usage statistical services of the JISC Collections purchasing alliance, it hopes to provide some references to other library consortiums.[Method/process] By the methods of literature review and online survey, this paper analyzed the application status of usage statistics in domestic and foreign library consortium acquisition. Then, this paper took Journal Usage Statistics Portal (United Kindom) as an example, introduced its background and developments, and explored its practices of statistical services including data collection, data providing and data maintenance.[Result/conclusion] The experiences of JUSP give us some enlightments. Library consortiums should pay more attention to the user requirements for usage statistics, develop one-stop usage statistics platform through cooperation, follow relevant standards and specifications, and build a mechanism of community participation.

  • Research on the Design Flow and Implementation Strategy of University Library's Learning Space

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Space is becoming the most valuable asset of academic libraries. Library space is an important place to support university users' learning and scientific research,which is also a strategic development direction of academic libraries in future. The paper studies the design flow and implementation strategy of library space project, to provide reference and guidance for the construction of learning space in university libraries.[Method/process] Based on literature review and case study, this paper focus on the design process and implementation of library space project, devided the process into six steps:planning, demand collection and analysis, concept design, space elements design, service design and space evaluation. The pape rexplained the key points of process, and provided the specific implementation in peoject and best practices.[Result/conclusion] Five tactics can be used in the implementation of library space project:keep user-centered design, integration with the strategic of the university, keep spatial flexibility, make spatial and service integration, and cooperate with campus partners.

  • Research on the Code of Practice for Research Data Usage Metrics and Its Implementation

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper introduces the Code of Practice for Research Data Usage Metrics developed by Make Data Count and COUNTER, to provide a new metric for evaluating research data impacts from a new perspective.[Method/process] Through the analysis of the code, the background, purpose, scope, definitions of data elements and other terms, and core contents were introduced. Then, through the case analysis, the application of the specification by Dash, DataONE, Zenodo and seven other data repositories were surveyed.[Result/conclusion] The usage of research data has its own unique features. The introduction of the Code can complent the work of data citation and altmetrics for data, and further measure the research impact from historic perspective. At present, there are not many data repositories that follow this standard. In order to promote the application of research data usage metrics, standards organizations, researchers, repositories, publishers, funders, research institutions and libraries should cooperate in the production, management, dissemination and utilization of research data.

  • Research on Data Model Theory and Knowledge Discovery Application Based on Multiple Occurrence of Scientific Literature

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Various entities and their associations are the basic units that constitute a variety of occurrence phenomena in scientific literature. By mining the associations between occurrence entities, occurrence analysis can detect all aspects of the laws of scientific activities from different angles for scientific research management and researchers. It will provide a new perspective on the development of science from all angles and perspectives.[Method/process] By studying the basic theory of multiple occurrence, this paper constructs a set of unique basic theoretical system of multiple occurrence data model. The theoretical system includes definition of multiple occurrence, multiple occurrence research category, multiple occurrence variable symbols, multiple occurrence matrix definitions, multiple occurrence data organization forms, etc. In addition, based on the multiple occurrence cross-graph visualization method, this paper constructs a knowledge discovery method that can be used to analyze the occurrence relationship of three or more characteristic items, including the occurrence relevance strength, cited relevance strength and occurrence burst strength method.[Result/conclusion] Through the construction of this basic theoretical system, the research scope of occurrence phenomena is expanded, which provides the basic theory support for occurrence analysis to multi-angle and multi-dimension occurrence analysis. And through empirical research, different cases of multiple occurrence applications are selected, proving that the method can be applied to the analysis of research areas, research institutions, institutional contrast, research scholars, etc., and has good analysis results. Due to the multi-dimensional analysis and the diversification of analysis methods, this method can not only achieve the analysis effects of occurrence which includes one entity or two entities, but also reveal more extensive than the common occurrence and in-depth knowledge of content.

  • The Comparative Research and Reference on Capability Maturity Models for Data Management

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper compares the main capability maturity models (CMM thereafter) for data management in order to provide references for libraries to select and use such a model.[Method/process] The structure of each model was introduced through a literature review and content analysis. The comparative analysis method was also used to evaluate 7 CMMs for data management from 5 aspects, including evaluation dimensions, organizational system, evaluation rules, operability, and openness.[Result/conclusion] Each model has its own features. The evaluation dimensions of CMMI DMM, DCAM, and DCMM are relatively comprehensive. Service capability maturity model of data center has strong operability, and its quantitative and qualitative evaluation method is worth learning from. CMMs for RDM(QIN J) and CMMs for RDM(ANDS) consider the actual situation of data management in libraries and can be used as preferred models. Based on the comparison of each model, three schemes have been formed for libraries in selecting and application of CMMs for data management.

  • The Technical Framework and Research Progress of Knowledge Discovery in Academic Figures and Tables

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Under the background of deep integration of scientific resources, knowledge discovery of academic figures and tables provides a new way of knowledge discovery besides text knowledge discovery. Knowledge discovery of academic figures and tables is an important segment in document knowledge discovery perfection, it improves the efficiency of scientific discovery and knowledge creation of researchers and promotes the upgrade of knowledge service of digital library.[Method/process] This paper sort out the evolution of knowledge discovery of academic figures and tables, demonstrated its technical framework in detail and proved that the knowledge discovery technology of academic figures and tables had been gradually mature. Combined with knowledge discovery application service with academic charts, this paper found that knowledge discovery of academic figures and tables could support scientific and technological innovation activities in many ways.[Result/conclusion] Looking into the future, we need to:attach importance to the knowledge discovery of academic figures and tables and integrate it into the literature knowledge discovery system; perfect the semantic knowledge organization system of academic figures and tables and build a special semantic knowledge base of academic figures and tables; develop new knowledge discovery applications for academic figures and tables.

  • Research on FAIR Data Assessment Models and Tools

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper compares the main FAIR assessment models and tools in order to provide references for stakeholders in data management to assess data FAIRness.[Method/process] The metrics and the evaluation methods of each model or tool were introduced through a literature review and content analysis. The comparative analysis method was also used to evaluate FAIR assessment models and tools from 6 aspects, including types, automation, operability of FAIRness evaluation method, number and distribution of indicators, metadata indicator settings, and indicator clarity.[Result/conclusion] Based on the comparison of each model or tool, a solution of "FAIRsFAIR Data Object Assessment Metrics + RDA FAIR Data Maturity Model" is proposed for stakeholdersin data management in selecting and application of FAIR assessment models.
